Dal Lake is one of the most famous places to visit in Srinagar, Himachal Pradesh. The Dal Lake in Srinagar is also known as the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is the most visited place in Srinagar by tourists and locals alike. The place is one of the most popular attractions in Srinagar that attracts lakhs of tourists every year. The lake is surrounded by splendid Pir Panjal mountains and Mughal Gardens. This must-see place is ideal for family vacationers, honeymoon couples, and even solo travellers seeking peace.

The beautiful Dal Lake is located within a catchment area covering 316 square kilometers in the Zabarwan mountain valley, in the foothills of the Shankaracharya Hill, which surrounds it on three sides. It is the second-largest lake in Jammu and Kashmir. Dal Lake is also one of the best filming locations in Kashmir, with breathtaking views of lofty rolling hills, distant snow-capped mountains, shikaras cruising quietly, and the houseboat standing still with perfect poise.

The Dal Lake in Srinagar is also popular for the floating market (known as Raad) where vendors have their own Shikaras. Each houseboat has an exclusive shikara for ferrying guests to the shore. The important attractions in and around the Dal Lake include the Island of Char Chinar, Nagin Lake, Chashme Shahi, Shankaracharya Temple, Hari Parbat, Hazratbal Shrine, and Mazar-e-Shura Cemetery.
